Jonathan Joubert

British artist and Royal College of Art graduate based in Montréal, Canada

Jonathan Joubert is a contemporary British artist based in Montréal. He graduated from the Royal College of Art, London, with an MA in Fine Art Painting in 2011. His practice encompasses oil painting on aluminium and works on paper.

Joubert develops interconnected bodies of work in which rapidly executed drawings are transformed into paintings, objects and spatial propositions. Recurring heads, divers, falling figures and suspended bodies form a visual language through which he explores light, time and perception.

His recurring heads, divers, falling figures and suspended bodies move between drawing, painting and imagined spaces, where light, scale and transformation continually reshape their meaning.
